Propagation
The seed has a double dormancy and requires stratification then sown during spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.
Aerial layering is carried out during the growing period.

Note:
Under cultivation this shrub tolerates heavy soils and is pH adaptable.

Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green obovate leaves have an obtuse-acute apex and a pubescent petiole that is up to 12mm (½in) long. The base is cuneate and may be unequal. The greyish underside is almost glabrous and during autumn the leaves turn shades of yellow and are a feature of the plant.

Flower: The yellow-orange crateriform flowers have 4-twisted linear petals and are sessile or have a very short pedicle. They are arranged in a axillary cyme and the flowering period is variable but normally in late winter. The tan coloured buds are pubescent and have a short stalk.

Fruit: The small dehiscent capsule has 2-valves releasing black seeds. These are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
