Propagation
Seeds require a warm-cold period for 3 to 5 months prior to sowing and then placed in an open frame to germinate.

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer. Plant up in early spring with the new growth. Air layering is carried out during the growing period.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are broad ovate with prominentveins and an abruptly acuminate apex. Its underside is blue-green with pubescence along the veins. The slender petiole is up to 25mm (1in) long.

Flower: The small campanulate flowers have 5-sepals, petals and stamens. They are arranged in a pendant raceme that is up to 40mm (1½in) long and are accompanied by bracts that are boat shaped. Flowers appear before the leaves during early spring.

Fruit: The small, 2-beaked capsule is dehiscent and contains 2-valves. It matures among the leaves during summer and contains 2-black seeds. The small seeds are viable but may be difficult to germinate so the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
