Sow fresh seeds in situ or in a container when ripe.


Botanic information
Leaf: The large bright green imparipinnate leaves have 13 to 17 curving lanceolate leaflets that have an acuminate apex and a short petiole. The leaflets are large and are up to 180mm (7in) long and the margin may be double serrated.

Flower: The small male and female flowers appear on the same plant. The yellow green male catkins are in groups of three and up to 75mm (3in) long and the inconspicuous female flowers appear terminally at the tips of the branches during late spring.

Fruit: The oblong nut appears in clusters of 3 to 10. It is in high demand as a delicious editable nut and is cultivated commercially.
