Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green pinnate leaves have 11 to 31 oblong to lanceolate leaflets that are up to 125mm (5in) long. They have a serrated margin with an acuminate apex and turn a brilliant orange-red to crimson during autumn. The rachis is pubescent and the petiole is up to 50mm (2in) long.

Flower: The flowers are dioecious and the green-yellow male flowers appear in an erect terminal panicle up to 250mm (8in) long. The smaller female panicles appear on a different plant during summer.

Fruit: The small pubescent drupe is arranged in an erect dense panicle. The fruit persists throughout winter and is an attractive feature of the plant. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
