Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in a prepared bed.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots in summer.
Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green leaves are elliptical to ovate and the margin is finely serrate. Its apex is acuminate and the petiole is short. The mid rib and veins are prominent giving the upper surface a quilted appearance. When the leaf is torn apart, threads of latex remain joined.
Flower: The small male flowers have clusters of brown stamens and the female flowers have a single pistil. They are normally solitary but may be arranged in a small cluster and appear on differen trees (dioecious) during early spring.
Fruit: The capsule-like nut contains one seed that is winged and may appear in clusters. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
