Propagation
Seeds require a warm-cold period for 3 to 5 months prior to sowing and then placed in an open frame to germinate.

Take semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer.
Aerial layering is carried out during autumn.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green ovate leaves have a cordate base and an acute apex. Forward facing parallel veins give the upper surface a quilted appearance and the veins on the underside are pubescent. The petiole is up to 20mm (ľin) long and the new growth isbronze. During autumn the leaves turn golden yellow before falling.

Flower: The small campanulate flowers have 5-sepals and petals with exserted stamens. They are arranged in a small pendant raceme that is up to 30mm (1Ľin) long and appears during early spring.

Fruit: The small, 2-beaked capsule is dehiscent and contains 2-valves. It matures amongst the leaves during summer and contains 2-black seeds. The small seeds are viable but may be difficult to germinate so the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
