Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe and place in an open frame to germinate.
Take soft tip cutting of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings during late summer.
Divide suckers during spring or by layering.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are oval-elliptical to oblong and the brownish undersides are densely pubescent. The texture is leathery and the leaves are aromatic when crushed. It has an acuminate apex and a short petiole to 10mm (?in) long.
Flower: The cyathiform flowers have long-lanceolate sepals and petals that contract towards the mouth and are arranged terminally or in the leaf axils of the current season's growth. The fragrance is strawberry-like and the flower colour is dull red brown and they appear during summer.
Fruit: The capsule-like receptacle contains many brown, single-seeded achenes that persist on the plant throughout winter. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
