Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in a prepared bed.
Take semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.
Take root cuttings during winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green pinnate leaves have 9 to 21 oblong to lanceolate leathery textured leaflets, that are up to 100mm (4in) long. There some serrations along the margin near the acute apex and the petiole has a leaf-like wing. During autumn the leaflets turn red to purple before falling.
Flower: The tiny flowers are dioecious and are arranged in a large terminal, conical-shaped panicle that is up to 200mm (8in) long and appears from mid to late summer.
Fruit: The small egg-shaped drupe is slightly pubescent and bright red when mature. They are arranged in dense showy heads and are a feature of the plant. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
