Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in a well-drained media.
Take hardwood cuttings taken during winter.
Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green palmately lobed leaves have 3-shallow lobes that are pointed at the apex and are truncate or cordate at the base with a slender petiole that is up to 125mm (5in) long. The young foliage is tomentose and in autumn it turns brown before falling.
Flower: The tree is monoecious and both male and female greenish flowers appear in pendulous globose clusters of 3 to 6 with different peduncles. The flowers appear during spring.
Fruit: The persistent pendant nut-like fruit normally appears singly and rarely in pairs and is smoother than the other species. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
