Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame or sow in a prepared bed. The seeds may require some stratification.
Note:
The roots on this tree are shallow and spreading and require ample room around pathways or driveways otherwise damage may result.
Botanic information
Leaf: The 4-sided stiff acicular leaves are almost round and the apex is acute. They are arranged densely towards the end of the branches, twisting and pointing forward. In cross section there is 2-resin ducts and when crushed they emit a pungent odour.
Flower: The male pollen cones arered to yellowish appearing towards the end of the branches and the red to yellow-green female cones have scales. They appear during spring.
Fruit: The almost sessile oblong to slender reddish-brown pendant cylindrical cones are tapering and up to 25 mm (1 in) wide. They contain thin smooth scales that are rounded at the apex and up to 15 mm (? in) long and the small seeds are up to 4mm (?in) across and have an oblique wing.
