Propagation
Sow fresh seed in beds or stratify prior to sowing during spring.
Divide suckers during winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile mid-green leaves are oblong-elliptical to obovate and have white tomentose on both sides when young. The leaves have an acute to acuminate apex.
The buds are conical and slender and are up to 5mm (?in) long. There are 5-7 greenish-purple scales.
Flower: The small white 5-pettaled crateriform flowers are arranged on erect raceme that is up to 60mm (2½in) long and appears during spring.
Fruit: The spherical fleshy pome is sweet and is blue-black when ripe. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
