Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).

Divide tubers or offsets during spring.

Note:
During autumn or the tropical dry season the plant dies back and the tubers should be kept dry during the dormant period. Under ideal conditions this plant is regarded as a weed.

All parts of the plant are highly toxic if ingested and gloves should be worn when handling tubers.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green leaves are ovate to broad-lanceolate tending to arch or twist and the apex forms a long coiled tendril up to 50mm (2in) long that aids in climbing. The leaf texture is leathery and the petiole is short.

Flower: The yellow-red funnelform flowers have 6-reflexed petals that have undulating margins and the six stamens that protrude out and have yellowish anthers. The style is short and green and the flowers appear solitary in the leaf axils during summer.

Fruit: The small capsule is not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
