Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are ovate-elliptical to obovate with an acuminate apex and a short petiole. They are crowded along the stems and turn red in autumn. The buds are conical to ovoid and are glabrous with up to 8-pairs of imbricate scales.
Flower: The small greenish stellate flowers are arranged in an axillary cyme towards the end of the branches and appear from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The capsular fruit has 1 to 4 lobes and contain seeds with an orange-red aril. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
