Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring and semi hardwood cuttings during summer and apply bottom heat.
Divide suckers during spring or air layering.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green bilobed leaves have two deep lobes and a cordate base. The reddish petiole is up to 25mm (1in) long and the leaf has prominentpalmate vernation on the upper surface.
Flower: The fragrant funnelform flowers have 5-small red sepals and 5-expanding white petals that are undulating along the margins. The protruding filaments and style are scarlet with dark brown anthers and stigma. The flowers are arranged in a loose terminal raceme that appears during summer.
Fruit: The flat linear to oblong legume is woody and is green turning dark brown to black on maturity and has a leathery texture. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
