Propagation
The seeds may be surface sown and covered to a depth of 30mm (1? in) in a well drained, sandy media that is composed of 4-parts washed sterilised river sand to 1-part sieves peat moss and water in well with a soil fungicide.
Place the pots in a warm protected environment on benches and ensure that the soil is kept moist, but not wet. Take care when transplanting seedlings as the roots are sensitive and easily damaged.
Graft onto Grevillea robustarootstock.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnatisect leaves have lobes that are up to 20 mm (µ in) long and are narrow-linear to almost terete with revolute margins. The petiole is short and a groved underside is silver-greyish, and covered in fine pubescence.
Flower: The red tubulate flower have small perianth segments that are almost glabrous on the outside and have a pistol that is up to 28 mm (1? in) long with an inner curved style that is tipped in yellow-green. The flowers are arranged in a terminal or axillary conflorescence with a short peduncle and appear in spring.
Fruit: The woody boat-shaped follicle contains two winged seeds. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
