Propagation
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.
Botanic information
Leaf: The concave linear leaves have a thick succulent-like appearance and are triangular in cross section. The apex is cuspidate and the bluish petiole is very short.
Flower: The small tubular flower has 5-petals and sepals that are incurved with a protruding red style. The flower is surrounded by bracts that extend past the floral tube and are up to 14mm (½in) long and are persistent on the plant. The flowers appear from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small nut contains seeds that are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
