Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring and semi hardwood cuttings during late summer and apply bottom heat.


Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green leaves are elliptical to ovate with prominentveins on the upper surface and with a quilted appearance. The margin is slightly undulating and the petiole is short with an acuminate apex.

Flower: The elongated arching 2-lipped tubulate flowers are arranged in a spike-like terminal cyme that is up to 300mm (1ft) tall. The flowers are accompanied by crimson bracts and appear throughout summer but predominately during autumn.

Fruit: The small capsule is woody and the seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
