Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The large light green bipinnate leaves have numerous oblong to elliptical glaucous leaflets that are up to 12mm (½in) long.
Flower: The crateriform flower has orange-red sepals and the 4-spathulate-shaped petals that are either yellow or red-yellow with crinkly margins. The 10-prominentstamens are dark red and mature flowers become pure red. They are arranged in a terminal raceme that appears during summer.
Fruit: The flattened pod contains many hard seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
