Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring and semi hardwood cuttings during summer and apply bottom heat.
Take root cuttings during early spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The elliptical leaves are dark to mid-green with a smooth slightly glossy surface that may be undulated. The margins are faintly serrated and the petiole is up to 30mm (1¥in) long.
Flower: The salverform flower has 4-blue obovate petals and 1-long lower lipped petal that is purple. The small calyx is red and the inward curved stamens are purple. The flowers are arranged in a terminal panicle that is up to 150mm (6in) tall and appears from summer to early autumn.
Fruit: The small drupe is inclosed in the persistent calyx and separates into 4 one seeded articles and is viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
