Propagation
Sow fresh seed from autumn to spring in pots and in cold climates place in a cold frame.

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the early summer and semi hardwood cuttings during summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green ovate leaves have 5 to 7 broad lobes and arranged decussate up the stem with a petiole up to 65mm (2½in) long. The base is truncate and the underside has white tomentose. During autumn the leaves turn bronze-red before falling.

Flower: The inflorescence consists of both sterile and fertile rotate flowers that are arranged in a conical terminal panicle up to 250mm (10in) wide. The sterile outer flowers are white then turn violet-pink and the flowers appear during early summer.

Fruit: The small capsule is persistent on the plant and the seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
