Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).

Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring and semi hardwood or leaf bud cuttings during summer and apply bottom heat.
Divide the rhizome during spring.

Note:
It may be used as a cut flower and is long lasting.


Botanic information
Leaf: The broadly ovate leaves are palmately lobed with 3 to 5 lobes that have an acute to acuminate apex. The petiole is long and the leaf base is cordate.

Flower: The small apetalous female flowers are arranged in a pendent spike that has green to yellowish bracts that form a cone-like appearance "hops". The tiny male flowers have 5-sepals and 5-stamens and are arranged in an axillary panicle. The flowers appear during summer.

Fruit: The green-yellow cone-like fruit has numerous yellow glands that contain the hop bitters and the small seed have a hard outer layer. They are persistent on the plant and inclosed in the perianth. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
