Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.


Botanic information
Leaf: The juvenile pinnatifid leaves have 2 to 4 opposite oblong lobes that may reach to the mid rib. The leathery adult leaves are lanceolate to obovate with silvery-grey hairs on the underside and the base is cuneate with a short petiole.

Flower: The small tubulate flowers have silky oblong perianth segments and an exserted style up to 12mm (½in) long with an oblong pollen presenter. They are arranged in a terminal spike-like raceme that is up to 150mm (6in) long and 20mm (µin) wide. It is insect pollinated and the flowers appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The persistent oblong follicle is up to 12mm (½in) wide with a thin smooth pericarp. The oblong seeds are up to 15mm (?in) long with ridged margins that have a waxy border. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
