Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 to 3 months at 5º C (41ºF) then sow in spring and maintain a temperature of 12º to 15º C. (55º to 59º F).
Take semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.
Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are linear to oblong appearing in 2-ranked with twisting short petioles. The upper surface is grooved and the underside has 2-conspicuous bands of stomata. The tiny light brown buds have pubescent scales.
Flower: The auxiliary male flowers are tiny, globose and have numerous stamens and appear on the previous years growth and the greenish terminal female strobilus is slightly larger. The flowers appear during spring.
Fruit: The persistent woody pendent oblong cones mature in one year and contain 2-winged seeds under each scale. The seed is obovate and dotted with small resin glands. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
