Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.
Botanic information
Leaf: The grey-green leaves are ovate to oval and has silvery hairs on both sides giving the leaf a felty texture. When crushed a mild odour is given off and the leaves are arranged in opposite pairs. The petiole is purplish and the undersides have prominent veins.
Flower: The small 2-lipped tubulate flowers are arranged in a whorl on a terminal raceme that is up to 300mm (12in) long. The stamen filaments are free and not fused at the base as in Coleus species. The flowers appear during summer.
Fruit: The tiny fruit is composed of 4 nutlets. The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
