Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).

Take cuttings during from spring to summer and placed on a misting bench.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green imparipinnate leaves have 7 to 11 oblong to obovate leaflets that may be notched at the apex or are obtuse. The leaflet petiole is short and the margins are undulating with the larger leaves arching backwards.

Flower: The yellow-green buds open at night to claret coloured campanulate flower that emits and unpleasant odour which attracts bats for pollination. The crinkled flowers are arranged in a loose pendant panicle that is up to 2m (6ft) long and appear during summer.

Fruit: The gourd-like cylindrical berry may weigh up to 7kg (15lb) and are long, swinging on a cord-like stalk up to 900mm (3ft) long. When ripe the fruit becomes light brown colour with smooth skin and containing a woody pulp filled with large seeds.
