Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 27º to 30º C. (81º to 86º F).


Botanic information
Leaf: The yellow-green pinnate fronds have solitary veined weeping linear leaflets that are arranged oppositely along the rhachis. The petiole is up to 1m (3ft) long with the base wrapped in brown fibres.

Flower: The small 3-petalled cyathiform (cup-shaped) male and female flowers appear on pendant panicle that is up to 1800 mm (6ft) long that develop in the leaf axils. They appear from spring to summer and sporadically throughout the year.

Fruit: The clustered drupe is composed of a fleshy yellow to orange mesocarp that is fibrous with the encased nut covered in remnant brown fibres. The nut consists of 3-eyes at the base and the edible part is contained within the hard-shelled nut.
