Propagation
Separate seeds from pulp and sown in autumn in a moist medium and maintain a temperature of 5º C (41º F) for 3-months.

Take softwood cuttings from summer to autumn and place on a misting bench until roots appear, with in 6 to 8 weeks. Avoid excessive moisture for both cuttings and seeds.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are elliptical to broadly-cordate with an undulating spiny margin towards the apex. The upper surface is dull green with the underside is whitish and the petiole is short. They are arranged alternately and may be in-groups of three.

Flower: The small bright yellow cyathiform flowershave 6-petal-like sepals and 6-petals with 6-stamens and the ovary contains a single cell. They are arranged in an axillary cluster towards the end of the branches and appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The small berry has a fleshy texture and is covered in a powdery secretion (pruinose). The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to avoid natural hybrids.
