Propagation
Sow fresh seed is spring in pots and in cold climates place in a cold frame.

Divide the clump (rhizome) during late summer carefully with 2 to 3 growing points per division.


Botanic information
Leaf: The narrow-linear leaves are furrowed on the upper surface and the base clasps the stem. They are arranged in whorls up the flowering stems.

Flower: The bright yellow stellate flowers are arranged in a dense terminal raceme that is up to 200mm (8in) long. They are held above the foliage on a leafy scape that is up to 1.5m (5ft) tall and open consecutively from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The capsule splits into 3 and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
