Propagation
Sow seed when ripe and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Divided offsets with roots attached in late spring through early summer.
Note:
This plant needs protection from wet winters.
Botanic information
Leaf: The blue-green sessile leaves are lanceolate to broad-linear and are arranged terminally in a successive fan pattern. The texture is leathery with a fleshy centre and an obtuse apex.
Flower: The pendant tubulate flowers are scarlet with yellow tips and are arranged in a loose terminal raceme that is held above the foliage on a slender leafless scape during spring.
Fruit: The spherical fruits ripen from green to brown and may be papery or woody. The flat or angular seeds are viable but the plant may be easily reproduced vegetatively.
