Propagation
Separate seeds from pulp by soaking in water then stratify for 2 to 3 months during winter. Sow seeds in pots or flats then place them in cool position to germination which may take up to two years.

Young plants are easily transplanted during winter.


Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green leaves are obovate to rhomboid with 3 to 5 deep lobes and the underside is downy. The sessile oblong buds are solitary or branched and have 6 red-brown fleshy scales.

Flower: The bisexual creamy-white cyathiform flowers have 5 petals with purplish anthers and appear in a dense axillary corymb during spring.

Fruit: The fleshy drupe contains hard nutlets and has an apple-like appearance with the colour varying from orange-red to yellow. It is used in jams and liqueurs.
