Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Take semi hardwood cuttings during summer and apply bottom heat.
Note:
All parts of the plant including seeds are narcotic and poisonous and if ingested it may be lethal.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green leaves are ovate to oblong with and entire to serrated margin. It has a short petiole and the apex is acuminate.
Flower: The large pendant tubulate flowers have 5-recurving pointed petals and appear prolificly from spring to summer. The colour is yellow when emerging then becoming pink and maturing in scarlet-red with yellow veins.
Fruit: The smooth fleshy indehiscent berry is variable from globose to ovoid and or oblong-cylindrical. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
