Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).

Take semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.

Culture
Clianthus puniceusis both frost and drought hardy once established preferring a raised garden bed with good drainage.
Keep moist during summer and reduce watering during winter especially if grown in a pot.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green pinnate leaves have up to 15-pairs of linear to oblong leaflets that have an obtuse to retuse apex and are glabrous above with tomentose on the undersides.

Flower: The red papillionate flowers have a pubescent pedicle with a small bracteoles and the calyx is bell shaped. The standard is ovate and the wings are lanceolate. It has a large keel that is falcate up to 60mm (2in) long and the flowers are arranged in a pendulous raceme with up to 20 blooms, appearing during spring.

Fruit: The inflated pods contain many seeds. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
