Culture
Once establishPhiladelphus mexicanusrequires little care but prefers moist soils that are mulched. It should be planted in a position that avoids hot afternoon sun and may be grown as an understorey plant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green ovate leaves underside is slightly pubescent and the margin is entire to sparsely toothed. They are arranged oppositely in a single plane along the branch and have an acuminate apex and a short petiole.
Flower: The 4 petalled creamy-white cyatheriform flowers has a calyx that is slightly pubescent and are solitary or arranged in a raceme with 3-blooms and appear during summer.
Fruit: The small capsule is 4-celled. The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
