Propagation
Sow seed when ripe as the viability period is short but the seeds germinate quickly.
Take semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.
Aerial layering is carried out during summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green leaves are elliptical to oblong-oval and have wavy margins with raised upper surface along the veins. The leaf has a leathery texture and is arranged in opposite pairs.
Flower: The small 5-petalled creamy-white salverform flowers are arranged in an axillary cluster and only last for one day and appear during spring.
Fruit: The pulpy berry is green becoming red and ripening to purple-black colour. It contains 2 seeds (beans) that are grooved on one flat side.
