Botanic information
Leaf: The reniform leaves are bronze coloured when young maturing to dull dark green. The apex is obtuse and tha base is cordate.
Flower: The funnelform flowers have 5-expanding lobes with the lowest petals spurred at the base and are up to 6mm (1/4in) long. The throat is marked with dark purple veins and the flower have a long pedicle. They appear solitary from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small dehiscent papery capsule splits open with 3-boat-shaped valves and containing numerous small nut-like seeds that have a fleshy endosperm that is oily, and are commonly disbursed by ants. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
