Take cuttings during summer and place in a protected environment.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green elliptical leaves are arranged opposite and tend to be decussate. They have a thick texture and are sessile.

Flower: The small apetalous flowers are clustered inside surrounding petal-like bracts that are up to 60mm (1½in) long. They appear above the foliaged on a slender scape during spring.

Fruit: The small capsule is retained in base of the perianth tube and has a membranous outer layer (epicarp). The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
