Propagation
Prepare the seed by removing the outer fleshy layer and pre soak the seeds for 24 hours prior to sowing in spring in a sandy mix with perlite and pot up into deep pots maintaining 20º to 30ºC (68º - 86ºF) temperature.
Remove offsets during spring but transplanting may be difficult.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate leaves have up to 50-lanceolate leaflets that may have a margin that are spiny toothed on the upper with no mid-rib. The texture is stiff, leathery and the spreading leaves are arranged terminally on the trunk.
Flower: The small cylindrical male cones are insignificant and the brown-green female cones are ovoid up to 50mm (2in) long. They appear during summer.
Fruit: The small green-brown cones have a course texture and produce viable seeds.
