Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn to spring. Keep seedlings moist but not wet as they are very susceptible to root rot.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are lanceolate to linear with an obtuse apex and the texture is leathery.

Flower: The small hairy tubulate flowers are elongated florets that are split and arranged densely in a flower-head. These are surrounded by large leaf-like sticky bracts that are creamy-white with red to pink tips. The inflorescence is up to 90mm (3 1/2in) wide and appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The small bearded nut is hidden in the fading bracts.

General pruning information
Lightly trim after flowering to thicken up, don`t cut back into old wood as it will encourage dieback and generally will not rejuvenate. The plant may die back from excessive rich soils.
