Sow fresh seeds during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green pinnate leaves are composed of 3 to 8 elliptical to oval leaflets up to 150mm (6in) long that have a short petiole and arranged oppositely on the rhachis. The apex is obtuse and the underside is dull green with veins visible on both sides.
Flower: The small flowers are crateriform to cyathiform in shape with 5-expanded oval petals that are finely pubescent. There are 5-stamens arranged opposite the petals with the ovary in the centre. They are arranged in a terminal or axillary panicle that appears from late winter to early spring.
Fruit: The woody capsule consists of 5-boat-shaped valves that are covered in prickles on the outside. There are up to 15-winged seeds per pod each seed measuring up to 40mm (1½in) long.
