Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).
Take stem or tip cuttings taken during summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green leaves are ovate to elliptical with a prominentmid rib that is winged at the base on the underside. The texture is leathery and may have a powdery or pubescent surface. The leaves may be deciduous for a short period in cooler climates.
Flower: The scarlet tubulate flowers are encased in fleshy red bracts that are tubular and pointed and appear in a terminal cyme during daylight in summer. The flowers are rarely produced under cultivation in a container.
Fruit: The small capsule is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
