Propagation
Take cuttings from spring to summer and placed on a misting bench.
Aerial layering is carried out during the growing period.
Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
Botanic information
Leaf: The distinctly shaped obovate leaves are bright green, becoming darker with age and the underside is a rusty brown colour. The apex is truncate and the woody petiole is short. Variegata' has light green to cream marking on the upper surface.
Flower: The tiny-paired flowers appear in the leaf axils and are enclosed in the developing fruit. These appear intermediately throughout the year.
Fruit: The small pome is green maturing to orange-red and is produced profusely on larger plants. The fruit is shape ovoid and has a long pedicle. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
