Botanic information
Leaf: The backward arching costapalmate fronds are divided into half their depth with stiff tapering waxy segments up to 800mm (32in) long. The slender petiole is up to 1m (3ft) long with the bases persistent on the trunk.
Flower: The male and female flowers appear on different plants and are arranged in groups of 3 in pits with 3-sepals and 3-petals. The female flowers are slightly larger and are arranged on a thick and stiff panicle that is up to 1m (3ft) long and is appears among the leaf bases during summer.
Fruit: The drupe is slightly 3-angled forming a top-shape to ovoid and is brown to dull orange colour. They appear in a pendant cluster from the leaf bases. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
