Propagation
Sow fresh seeds from autumn to spring and in cold climates place in a cold frame.
Take semi hardwood cuttings during summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The palnately lobed leaves have 3-spreading lobes with an acuminate apex. The base is slightly cordate with a glabrous petiole up to 80mm (3in) long. The leaves are bronze when young becoming dark green and the underside is pubescent on the veins.
Flower: The male flowers are arranged in small panicle on young twigs and the female are globose heads that enlarge to 40mm (1 1/2in) and are covered in soft spines. They appear from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The persistent globular capsule is a small rounded and turning brown It appears on a long slender peduncles. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
