Propagation
Take a soft tip or semi hardwood cuttings from summer to autumn.
Sow fresh seeds from autumn to spring and in cold climates place in a cold frame.
Culture
The roots of this plant prefer to be in a cool shaded position. Mulch during summer and keep moist.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured oblong leaves have downy-grey undersides and are usually arranged in opposite pairs. The base may be cordate and the petiole is short.
Flower: The white crateriform flowers are solitary or arranged in pairs in the leaf axils and have conspicuous yellow stamens. The nectar glands are found at the base of the filaments and attracts bees. The flowers appear from mid to late summer.
Fruit: The leathery capsule contains winged seeds that have endosperm. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
