Botanic information
Leaf: The tiny scale-like glaucous green leaves appear briefly after rain and are not commonly seen.

Flower: The 4 to 8 stalkless male flowers are arranged in a cluster with each flower surrounded by 2-bracts that terminate in a pollen sack. The female flowers appear in a cluster of 2 to 3 with up to 3-bracts each and have a style-like growth at the apex. The flowers appear during summer.

Fruit: The berry-like cone is spherical and the seeds are hidden by the bracts. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
