Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during late winter to spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C (64º to 75º F).
Note:
Take care when selecting a planting position as the fruit is very hot
tasting, keep small children away!
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are lanceolate to ovate with an acuminate apex and along petiole. The leaf venation is pinnate and the margins may be undulating.
Flower: The small 5-pettaled campanulate flowers have prominate stamens and appear in the leaf axils. The flowers normally appear during summer but also appear throughout the year depending on the climate.
Fruit: The indehiscent berry is a pod-like, fleshy with many seeds. It varies in colour from green, red to dark purple and may be hot-flavoured or sweet. The shape also varies from globular, conical or bell-shape.
