Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
Take cuttings during spring to summer and placed in a well drained media.
Carry out root division throughout the year.

Mentha spicata Spearmint
The leaves are essential in mint sauce, jelly, butter or tea. Pieces are also used in cold drinks and as a herb in vegetable dishes and may be dried for pot-pourri.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile leaves are lanceolate to oblong with a textured upper surface and may be tomentose on the underside. They are strongly aromatic especially when crushed.
Flower: The tiny 2-lipped flowers are tubulate to campanulate with 4-spreading lobes. They are arranged in a whorled cluster in a dense cylindrical spike with leafy bracts and appear during summer.
Fruit: The small nut is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
