Leaf: The drooping glossy dark green lanceolate leaves are tinged with red when young and have prominentveins.
Flower: The small yellow to reddish crateriform flowers have 5-petals and are arranged in a dense panicle that appears during spring.
Fruit: The large drupe has a central stone that consists of 3-embryos. One of these is produced by the mother plant and the others from pollination. It ripens to an orange-red colour and may have a bitter after-taste. Selected plants are normally grafted for taste.
