Sow fresh seeds during early spring.
Divide established clumps (rhizome) during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The small dark green linear leaves are reduced to sheaths only or may have a short blade.
Flower: The spikelets are up to 14mm (1in) long and are arranged in a loose umbel. The keel forms a short awl and comes from the notch in the glumes. They appear during summer.
Fruit: The small angular nut is yellowish-brown. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
