Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are reduced to a basal sheath that is tan becoming glossy reddish-brown towards the base. The green culms are up to 2mm in diameter and can grow to 600mm (2ft) tall.
Flower: The tiny yellowish-brown bisexual flower is lanceolate with pointed perianth segments. The flowers are arranged at the end of a loose inflorescence that is up to 75m (3in) long and appears from spring to summer.
Fruit: The tiny capsule contains many seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
